Roachxit?

I am currently in the Philippines as the Coronavirus perfectly scheduled itself around my Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) and I had a chance to visit some friends practicing in Manila.

Spine Care by Intercare is now open in the Ayala Malls the 30th in the Ortigas center and they are soon opening a branch with expanded services in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), outside of the Black sheep of Chiropractics Headquarters.

Just like what happened in Makati and Quezon City (and Alabang with Doc Rob and Associates new office) competition ruins the high price (Lower Value) of the Chiropractic service as Mabuhay’s Numbers have suffered where alternate options have shown up. Ortigas will feel the pinch as will the Cebu and Davao clinics as former Mabuhay Chiropractors look to set up their own clinics. I imagine competition in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Mabuhay’s Mall of Asia (MOA) Clinic would put a severe kink into Mabuhay’s expansion. Rumor has it that they are closing one of their Quezon City offices. I can think of about 5 more offices that need to be put out of their misery.

Meanwhile there exists legal documentation showing that Mabuhay’s majority shareholder is reasserting her rights as the true leader of Mabuhay. (Mabuhay Chiro’s: I hope you’ve been nice to Ma’am Apple. 😉 )

Facing a future of diminishing economic success, a pissed off estranged wife who can rip a company back from you, a very real threat of regulatory agencies not approving your current operating clinics, a slew of current Department of Labor cases as well as past cases you’ve lost and are welching on the settlements and a scandal fueled media circus buzzing around the exterior of this steaming shit taco what does a grifter do?

Why he takes the remaining money and escapes to a foreign country to start over like the traveling snake oil salesman of old:

Apparently there is a push to start a clinic(s?) in Dubai, a country along with Singapore that he ferreted away money that was meant for his wife and her company. As Dubai from an economic standpoint allows foreign investment getting registered with the Health department is another beast in itself itself taking 4-6 months to get properly registered. As his favorite CA will be running the Dubai office it would make sense for him to be the first doctor licensed, but in any event I see a potential Roachxit in the future.

When Roach was excitedly explaining to me his Dubai plans in May of 2018 I remember telling him his plans wouldn’t work as I have had friends practice with success in the region. Not only were there structural issues with what he wanted to do, in so many words bring an “Asian Model” to an Arab country, but Arabs like the Vietnamese in his underperforming Hanoi clinic won’t tolerate the shit that the pleasant and gracious Filipino people do.

If a Roachxit does happen, I hope Ma’am Apple get some good consultancy on how to bring all of Mabuhay’s clinics up to regulatory standards so that they are approved by PITAHC and also making them more competitive in the emerging Chiropractic marketplace where multidisciplinary practices are a similar or lower price and adjustment only clinics are much cheaper. This will involve doing a necessary culling of the offices that underperform and perhaps unfortunately, a culling of the Chiropractors as well.

The Philippines has a rich history of Chiropractic which started a century ago and had excellent emerging Stewardship in the 90’s and early 2000’s that has suffered in recent years as a wannabe Chiro Jesus tried to expand and dominate a profession which has caused nothing but problems, like it has in other asian countries.

With another failed marriage, an aggravated professional trade board and a regulatory structure with multiple case files open Roachxit would be a blessing for the Philippines as it would be a blight on whatever country he wound up in. I already see him in Dubai donning a Keffiyeh and a Thawb saying “here at Gulf States Chiropractic we say Allah is our CEO.”

We hope the almighty prevents the desecration of another Major Religion and profession this go around…
